It looks like a brand new dining spot could be on its way to Cambridge--and the people behind it may have a connection to at least one restaurant in the Chinatown section of Boston.
According to a Cambridge License Agenda page, an as-of-yet unnamed restaurant is planning to open in Central Square, taking over the space on Mass. Ave. where Shalimar of India had been until closing early last year. The hearing notice mentions that W and L Restaurant Group, Inc. is the parent company of the planned eatery while the proposed manager is Shu Jiao Chen; a page on the Bizapedia site leads to information showing that Chen is involved with Irashai Sushi and Teriyaki on Kneeland Street in Chinatown and possibly Five Spices House on Beach Street as well, though the parent company mentioned in Bizapedia is Five Spices Buffet, which may or may not be connected to Five Spices House. (As soon as we get more information on a possible connection, we will post an update here.)
Shalimar of India, which had been in business for more than 25 years, was known in part for its daily lunch buffet.
The address for this proposed restaurant in Central Square is 546 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02139.
