Amorino Is Opening in Cambridge's Harvard Square

by Marc Hurwitz

A Paris-based chain of artisan gelato shops that opened its first Boston location a couple of years ago may be opening a second shop in the area, with this one being in one of the busiest sections of Cambridge.

According to a source, Amorino is planning to open in Harvard Square, with a Board of Zoning Appeal page confirming this, indicating that it would open in the space on JFK Street where Berk's (a shoe store) had been. If approved, the new shop would join another on Newbury Street in the Back Bay, and based on that location (and others), expect the upcoming outlet to offer a variety of gelato options in a cup, cone, scone, or on a waffle or crepe, along with such items as milkshakes, macarons, gelato cakes, coffee, and more.

Amorino first opened in the Back Bay in March of 2015.

The address for this new gelato shop in Harvard Square is: Amorino, 50 JFK Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138. The website for the chain can be found at http://www.amorino.com/

[May 9, 2018 update: Amorino may be one step closer to opening in Harvard Square by this week, as a license commission hearing agenda page indicates that the shop's request for a common victualler license was expected to be looked at tonight.]

[June 8, 2018 update: Eater Boston states that Amorino open in Harvard Square on Wednesday, June 13.]
