An Austin-born group of restaurants with three locations in Boston has a new name.
According to an article from Eater Austin, Verts has changed its name to Noon Mediterranean because, as co-owner and founder Michael Heyne indicates, customers didn't understand the name "Verts" which apparently refers to doner kebabs (an item that isn't even on their menu anymore), while "Noon" refers to both lunchtime and--in Farsi--bread. Eater mentions that this is the second name change for the chain, as it used to be called VertsKebap.
Noon/Verts, which focuses on "fresh and customizable" Mediterranean fare including salads, bowls, and pitas, currently has three locations in Boston--the Back Bay, the Financial District, and Downtown Crossing. The website for Noon (whose main office is now in New York) can be found at http://www.eatnoon.com/
