Cafe Anthony in Cambridge Has Been Seized by the Sheriff's Department

by Marc Hurwitz

A cafe in Cambridge has been shut down, and it is not known what its future holds.

According to a source, Cafe Anthony on Mass. Ave. has been seized and is now locked up and dark, with a picture showing that it is now in possession of the Middlesex Sheriff's Department Enforcement Unit and a phone number displayed referring back to the Civil Process Division. No other information has been given at this point in time, so stay tuned for updates.

Cafe Anthony first opened its doors in 2015, with the eatery--which is located between Harvard Square and Central Square--offering soups, salads, sandwiches, grill items, pasta dishes, breakfast options, coffee, tea, and more.

The address for Cafe Anthony is 983 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02139.

[June 12 update: A Facebook post from the place mentions that Cafe Anthony expects to be closed for approximately three weeks and that the closure is apparently due to unspecified legal issues. The note also refers customers to Anthony's Pizza on Gore Street in East Cambridge, which remains in operation.]
