One of Boston's oldest dive bars is closing down.
A Facebook post this evening confirms what we had heard earlier from a source, that Cappy's Tavern in the Readville section of Hyde Park is closing on July 24. It isn't known for sure what will become of the Wolcott Court space, though the Facebook post mentions something about a catering company moving in; as soon as we get more information, we will post an update here.
Cappy's Tavern, which first opened approximately 80 years ago, is a classic old-school neighborhood bar that offers such items as steak tips, pizza, burgers, steak and cheese subs, and pastrami sandwiches along with cheap beer and strong drinks.
The address for Cappy's is 11 Wolcott Court, Hyde Park, MA, 02136.
