A Chinese restaurant in Newton has very quietly closed, and it looks like a second location of a highly-rated Vietnamese eatery in Allston will be moving into its space.
According to a post within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, a sign is up at the site of No. 1 Noodle House in Newton Centre showing that Pho Viet's II is coming soon, with another sign at the Langley Road space saying "closed for renovations." It is not known exactly when (or why) No. 1 Noodle House shut down, though another post on the page indicates that it may have closed over the past week or so.
The sign shown for Pho Viet's II has the same logo as that of Pho Viet's within the Hong Kong Supermarket/Super 88 food court in Packard Corner, so this appears to be a second location of that restaurant. The original Pho Viet's has received much praise from media outlets over the years, and our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants) has featured it as an under-the-radar spot to go to for Vietnamese food. The review can be found at the link below:

The address for the now-closed No. 1 Noodle House (and the new Pho Viet's II) is 51 Langley Road, Newton, MA, 02459. The website for the original location can be found at https://www.phoviets.com/
[December 18 update: According to a note on its website, Pho Viet's II plans to open in Newton Centre sometime this month.]
