Tavern in the Square in Salem Has Closed

by Marc Hurwitz

Another location of a local group of dining and drinking spots has closed.

According to a Facebook post from the Salem Food Digest, Tavern in the Square in Salem is no longer in business, with the company behind the Washington Street restaurant and bar apparently looking to bring a new concept to the space sometime next year. Two other locations of Tavern in the Square closed in Cambridge last year as well, while its Allston location was recently renovated and reconcepted; it appears that other outlets at Boston's North Station and South Station, Burlington, Littleton, Lowell, Northborough, Shrewsbury, and Cranston, RI, remain in operation.

The Salem location of Tavern in the Square first opened in 2009.

The address for Tavern in the Square in Salem was 189 Washington Street, Salem, MA, 01970.

Thanks to the Patch for initially bringing this to our attention.
