Cafe Jaffa in Boston's Back Bay Has Closed

by Marc Hurwitz

Over the past several months, we have been reporting that a longtime favorite in the Back Bay was being sold and it would be replaced by a new restaurant. Now we have learned that it has now served its last meal.

According to a source, Cafe Jaffa on Gloucester Street is shuttered with paper being in the windows, and a Facebook post from the place confirms that it indeed closed on March 30. As mentioned earlier, it looks like a new restaurant called Krasi will replace it, and Demetri Tsolakis of Committee in the Seaport District and Gre.Co in the Back Bay (and soon, in the Seaport District as well) is at least one of the people behind it.

Cafe Jaffa first opened in 1991, serving such items as falafel, stuffed grape leaves, shish kabob, chicken schnitzel, lamb chops, and schwarma. Based on earlier reports, it looks like the restaurant shut down because the owner was retiring.

The address for the now-closed Cafe Jaffa was 48 Gloucester Street, Boston, MA, 02115.
