One of the best-known pizzerias in the country is going to be expanding to a new complex just west of Boston.
According to a source, Pepe's Pizza is planning to open at the Arsenal Yards in Watertown, with an article in the Watertown News saying that a lease has been signed for the restaurant to open at the upcoming development. Once it opens, the new outlet of the New Haven-based pizzeria will join two other Boston-area locations--one at The Shops at Chestnut Hill and a new branch at the Burlington Mall which is expected to open later this month. Pepe's, which started out in 1925, has received numerous accolades over the years, including The Daily Meal awarding it best pizza in the United States in 2017.
Arsenal Yards will be located at the site of the old Arsenal Mall in East Watertown, with the mixed-use development having retail, office, and residential space. Some restaurants announced for the complex include Condesa Restaurante Mexicano, Shake Shack, Pokeworks, and City Works Eatery and Pour House.
