A growing local group of bakeries and cafes will be opening a massive new multi-use facility in a new development that is coming to the city.
According to an article in the Boston Business Journal, Tatte Bakery and Cafe is planning to open a 30,000-square-foot production space in South Boston that will also include a test kitchen and cafe along with office space, with the expansion coming to the former Cole Hersee building on Old Colony Avenue about midway between West Broadway and Andrew Square. The post says that cooking and baking classes will be offered at the upcoming spot, and the size of the facility will allow Tatte to bring back its catering program which had to be stopped because of a lack of space. If all goes as planned, the facility could be ready to open by next year.
The Cole Hersee building is slated to have space for as many as 10 other retail shops and restaurants on the ground floor once renovations are done, while the second floor will be used for office space.
The address for Tatte's upcoming production facility, test kitchen, and cafe is 60-70 Old Colony Avenue, South Boston, MA, 02127. The website for Tatte can be found at http://tattebakery.com/
