Oasis Plans to Open in Dorchester

A new restaurant may be on its way to a section of Boston with relatively few dining options, and it appears to be connected to another spot with the same name.

According to a licensing board hearing page within the city's website, Oasis is planning to open in Dorchester, with the eatery looking to move into a space on Hancock Street in the Upham's Corner/Jones Hill area. The name listed in the hearing notice is Chesterfield Coppin, who is behind Oasis Cafe in Roslindale [ed note--see update below]; based on the offerings there, the proposed spot in Dorchester could be offering Caribbean food, though more will probably be known by next week (the hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17).

The address for the proposed Oasis in Dorchester is 33 Hancock Street.

[July 11 update: Universal Hub tells us that the Roslindale location of Oasis Cafe very recently closed, so this could actually be more of a move.]
