Chalawan Is Opening in the Pho House Space in Cambridge

[Ed note: This article was updated on September 15 to reflect a name and more information for the upcoming restaurant.]

A Thai and Vietnamese restaurant in Cambridge has closed, and it will reopen as a new spot.

According to a source, Pho House on Mass. Ave. is shuttered, with a note out front saying that it is "currently closed and under renovation for our new concept. We thank you for your patronage and look forward to seeing you when we re-open." It is not yet known what the concept will be, nor is it known what the name of the restaurant might be, so stay tuned for updates as they come in.

Pho House first opened in the fall of 2014, taking over the space between Porter Square and Harvard Square where Tamarind House had been.

The address for the now-closed Pho House (and upcoming new concept) is 1790 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02140.

[September 18 update: A source tells us that Chalawan will be opening in the former Pho House space, and that it will be a Southeast Asian restaurant with its focus being at least in part on Thai fare.]

[October 4 update: Eater Boston states that Chalawan has opened, and it is under the same ownership as Pho House.]
