Cask'n Flagon Plans to Open in the Former Waxy O'Connor's Space in Woburn

A restaurant and sports bar that has been popular with Red Sox fans for 50 years could be opening a new location in the suburbs.

According to a source, the Cask'n Flagon is looking to open in the old Waxy O'Connor's space in Woburn, with a notice within the city's website saying that a public hearing on the proposal is expected to take place on December 19. If approved, this would be the third location of the Cask, with the original being at the corner of Brookline Avenue and Lansdowne Street in Boston's Fenway neighborhood and a second being on Route 139 in Marshfield. The Cask'n Flagon first opened in the Fenway in 1969 and is known in part as a pre-game destination with pub grub and a variety of beers offered.

Waxy O'Connor's closed its Woburn location earlier this year and now only has one Boston-area location remaining--in Lexington. (Others in Brookline, Foxboro, and Kingston have also closed, and another that was planned for Somerville's Assembly row never came to fruition.)

The address for the proposed location of the Cask'n Flagon in Woburn is 1 Rainin Road, Woburn, MA, 01801. The website for the Boston and Marshfield locations can be found at https://casknflagon.com/
