A new Asian restaurant has come to South Boston, and it replaces a location of a local group of upscale comfort food spots.
According to a source, Purple Shell opens today on West Broadway in the former Stephi's in Southie space, with an Instagram post from the dining spot confirming this. The website for the restaurant indicates that it features tapas-style dishes with Southeast Asian influences, and it also has a sushi bar.
Stephi's in Southie shut its doors last June, joining the closure of Stephi's on Tremont in the South End; Stephanie's on Newbury in the Back Bay remains in operation.
