Based on some information received this week, Jen Royle has some expansion plans, with a very solid rumor indicating that this will be an Italian takeout spot, which is quite a bit different from the Italian family-style dining concept of Table by Jen Royle in the North End. An exact location has not been given as of yet, nor is it known when the expansion could be happening; as soon as we find out more information, we will post an update here.
Royle, who opened Table by Jen Royle on Hanover Street early last year, had once been a sports reporter, news reporter, and talk show host, and she had also been on Beat Bobby Flay and The Taste before opening dining spot.
Table by Jen Royle can be found at 445 Hanover Street in the North End; its website is at https://www.tableboston.com/
[May 27 update: Jen Royle has made an official announcement on the upcoming spot, saying that it will be called Table Mercato and that it will be an Italian market and cafe with such items as meats, cheeses, olive oil, arancini, an antipasto bar, housemade cannoli, biscotti, and zeppoli, a full coffee bar, and more, including their own label of marinara sauce and pistachio pesto. If all goes as planned, the new place--which will have no seating and be a grab-and-go/takeout spot only--could be opening this summer. (We have been told that plans for this have been in the works for awhile but it was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)]
[November 20 update: A tweet from the place indicates that Table Mercato opens today at 1:00, with an earlier tweet from Jen Royle mentioning that it plans to offer such items as pastries, bakery pizza, meatballs, arancini, sandwiches, chicken cutlets, fresh breads, pasta, sauces, and more.]
