According to an article from Vanyaland, Great Scott's booking agent Carl Lavin is working with the Salem-based investment platform Mainvest to try to raise enough funds to open the Allston club back up. The post mentions that Lavin has already agreed to terms with Great Scott owner Frank Strenk to transfer both its liquor license and intellectual property, while hoping to work out a lease with building owner Oak Hill Properties. Lavin and Mainvest are looking to raise at least $150,000 and are currently at around $103,000 as of this writing with 80 days left in the fundraiser.
Great Scott, which had closed temporarily in the middle of March due to the stay-at-home advisory issued by the state of Massachusetts, was told by its landlord that its lease would not be renewed and announced that the closure would be permanent around May 1. The club started out in 1976 and became one of the most popular music club in the region over the years.

[June 11 update: Adam 12 of Rock 92.9 states that Lavin and Mainvest have reached their goal of $150,000, with the fundraising page showing that they are at approximately $165,000 as of this writing.]
[September 18 update: Vanyaland reports (via an update within the Mainvest link) that Great Scott has taken a big step closer to being reborn, as Carl Lavin has signed a Letter Of Intent with the landlord of the former Regina Pizzeria space to move in. More steps are needed before the plans become reality, but between this and their meeting (and surpassing) the fundraising goal, it looks like the chances are good that the music club will indeed be returning.]
