Boston Licensing Board to Hold Emergency Hearing for Restaurants in the Seaport District and South Boston

Over the past several months, emergency licensing board hearings have taken place regarding complaints about dining and drinking spots in Boston that were centered around such pandemic-related issues as social distancing, and now yet another hearing will be taking place, and this is for sections of the city that had already been warned.

According to a post from NBC10 Boston, the Boston Licensing Board is holding a virtual hearing on Wednesday, October 21 for all establishments with liquor licenses (for on-premise consumption) in the Seaport District and South Boston, with the city's website showing that the board will be looking into "numerous" complaints received by them, the Mayor's Office of Health and Human Services, the Boston Public Health Commission, and the Inspectional Services Department including social distancing and mandatory operational requirements, failure to properly monitor customers who are waiting in line for admission, and failure to comply to the six-person table limit. As was the case in earlier meetings, the notice says that any licensee that fails to attend the emergency hearing will be subject to disciplinary action.

This is the second time that Seaport District establishments are being called in, as a similar meeting took place for dining and drinking spots there in August, and we have been told by Caught in Southie that a meeting for South Boston had taken place as well around the same time.
