China Moon in Stoneham Is Closing

An old-school suburban Chinese restaurant that has been in business for nearly 70 years is closing down.

According to several sources, including a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page and a Facebook post in the North Shore Eats group page, China Moon in Stoneham is getting ready to shut down permanently, with the North Shore Eats post indicating that the Main Street spot plans to close on or around December 14, and that the family behind the place is planning to sell the property. China Moon first opened in 1953, with the place being known in part for its Chinese-American fare and Polynesian drinks while also featuring a buffet until the pandemic hit.

The address for China Moon is 170 Main Street (Route 28), Stoneham, MA, 02180. Its website can be found at https://www.chinamoonstoneham.com/

[December 15 update: Based on several posts from people on Facebook, it appears that yesterday was indeed the final day for China Moon.]
