Amrheins in South Boston Temporarily Suspends Operations, Will Reopen for Breakfast/Lunch on January 6

An iconic South Boston restaurant is closed for now.

According to a source, Amrheins in South Boston is shuttered, with a photo taken of a sign out front saying that "After much consideration we have decided to suspend business until further notice. Please continue to support the small businesses of your community buy gift cards, order take out, tip your delivery drivers. We look forward to serving you in the future." Amrheins, which first opened its doors in 1890, is known in part for its hand-carved bar which is the oldest of its kind in the United States.
