The Halal Guys to Open in Cambridge's Porter Square

A group of restaurants and carts based in New York City that opened its first Boston-area location in the Theater District is opening a second outlet, with this one being across the river.

According to a source, The Halal Guys are planning to open in the Porter Square section of Cambridge, with the address indicating that it will be opening in the Porter Square Shopping Center. The new eatery will join another on Stuart Street in Boston along with nearly 100 other locations in the United States and elsewhere, and based on the offerings at the Boston location, expect to see such items as chicken and rice, gyros, falafel sandwiches, hummus, baklava, and more.

The Halal Guys started out in 1990 as a food cart in Manhattan, with the original owners coming from Egypt.

The address for the upcoming location of The Halal Guys in Porter Square is 15 White Street, Cambridge, MA, 02140. The website for all locations is at https://thehalalguys.com/ while the Facebook page for the Cambridge outlet is at https://www.facebook.com/thehalalguysincambridge/

[July 28 update: According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, the new location of The Halal Guys in Cambridge plans to open on August 6.]
