Witch City Hibachi Is Opening in the Former Stella's Space in Salem

A new Japanese restaurant is on its way to the North Shore, opening in the space where a dining spot known for its wine options had been.

According to a source, Witch City Hibachi is planning to open in Salem, taking over the former Stella's space on Lafayette Street. The social media pages for the upcoming restaurant indicate that it will offer hibachi options along with sushi, and that the people behind it run several dining spots in Pennsylvania as well as one in South Dakota. (We have been told by our source that this appears to be a reincarnation of MYST, which was supposed to open at Pickering Wharf last year, and the owners of Witch City indeed also run a place called MYST in Jim Thorpe, PA.)

Stella first opened in late 2018, offering mostly New American fare and an array of wines; the restaurant shut down around the beginning of 2020.

The address for the upcoming Witch City Hibachi is 94 Lafayette Street, Salem, MA, 01970. Its Instagram page can be found at https://www.instagram.com/witchcityhibachisalem/

[December 13 update: The Facebook page for the place indicates that Witch City Hibachi is now open.]
