Christopher's in Cambridge's Porter Square Is Preparing to Reopen

A beloved Cambridge restaurant that has been shuttered since the start of the pandemic appears to be getting ready to open back up.

According to a picture posted within a tweet from @twoodfin, a sign is up at the site of Christopher's in Porter Square saying that "while we prepare to reopen Christopher's please join us next door at Toad." There has been much chatter about the exact status of the Mass. Ave. restaurant, as its last Facebook post was in June of 2020, saying at the time that "We are currently unable to re-open Christopher's. This has been an incredibly heartbreaking and challenging time for us, as we know it has been for everyone in the restaurant business. Christopher's has been a part of our family – and of our community – for 40 years, and we are not ready to give up hope. We are working as hard as we can to hold on; unfortunately, we do not yet have a re-open date on the calendar."

The people behind Christopher's and Toad also run Cambridge Common and Lizard Lounge down the street; the former is open while the latter is temporarily closed.

The address for Christopher's is 1920 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02140. Its website can be found at https://christopherscambridge.com/
