A group of Chinese fusion restaurants that started out in New York City will be expanding to Boston, taking over the space where one of the city's best-known Italian spots had been.
According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Jiang Nan is planning to open in the former Teatro space on Tremont Street, with the locations page of the group of restaurants confirming this. Based on the original restaurant in the Flushing section of Queens as well as its other outlets, expect to see a mix of Sichuan and Shanghainese dishes at the upcoming place along with dishes with influences from other regions of China, with the menu including such options as soup dumplings, grilled fish, and Peking duck.
Teatro, which first opened in 2003, was a casual upscale restaurant that featured modern takes on classic Italian dishes along with craft cocktails; the place closed last spring.
The address for Jiang Nan in Boston is 177 Tremont Street, Boston, MA, 02111. The website for all locations is at http://jiangnanny.com/
