A New Restaurant May Be Opening in the Former Jeveli's Space in East Boston

It looks like plans are in the works for a new dining spot to replace a landmark East Boston restaurant.

According to a licensing board hearing page within the City of Boston website, a new restaurant called Rose is looking to open in the former Jeveli's space on Chelsea Street, with the manager listed as being Andrea Rueda while the description of the place is a front room with a bar and seating for 56, a main and back dining room with seating for 93, and a "Presidential Dining room" with seating for 47. No other information has been given other than the fact that the proposed dining spot hopes to acquire the Jeveli's liquor license and that the parent company is Rose Square Inc.

Jeveli's first opened in 1924, being billed as the oldest Italian restaurant in Boston; it shuttered for the winter in November of 2020 due to the pandemic and never reopened.

The address for the proposed new restaurant moving into the Jeveli's space is 387 Chelsea Street, East Boston, MA, 02128.

[April 26 update: According to an article from Universal Hub, Rose looks to be a tapas restaurant that focuses on cuisines from around the world, including such items as fish tacos, bacon-wrapped plantains, croquettes, and octopus.]
