It looks like a new restaurant may be on its way to Cambridge, replacing a North African dining spot that had moved to the space several years ago.
According to a source, Chivo Taqueria is looking to open on Mass. Ave., taking over the Baraka Cafe space just south of Porter Square. A Cambridge Day article and a meeting agenda page within the city's website both mention the proposal, with the hearing notice indicating that the new restaurant would have seating for 40 and an outdoor patio with seating for 8, and that Luis Morales Jr. is the manager listed. Little else is known about the upcoming eatery, so keep checking back for updates.
Baraka Cafe first opened more than 25 years ago on Pearl Street in Cambridgeport, moving to Mass. Ave. in 2016; the place has been known in part for its Algerian and Tunisian fare.
The address for the proposed Chivo Taqueria (and Baraka Cafe) is 1728 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
