The Chemist Cocktail Club Is Opening in Boston's Financial District, Replacing Slate Bar & Grill

A restaurant and bar in downtown Boston that is popular with office workers is being replaced by a new dining and drinking spot, and a familiar name is behind that place.

According to a licensing board hearing page within the city's website, the Chemist is planning to open by the corner of High Street and Congress Street in the Financial District, moving into the Slate Bar & Grill space. The notice mentions that the spot would include seating for 59 and a bar, and the manager listed is Kevin Treanor (The Merchant, Phoenix Landing, Hugh O'Neill's, Trinity, Conley's Pub, Fresh Pond Beer Garden). More information on the Chemist will likely be given soon, as the meeting is slated to take place on August 16, so keep checking back for updates.

The address for Slate Bar & Grill (and the Chemist) is 109 High Street, Boston, MA,  02110. The website for the Chemist is at https://www.thechemistbar.com/

[December 4 update: According to a source, the Chemist is now open, with its exact name being the Chemist Cocktail Club, and its menu includes such food options as burgers, wings, cheese and charcuterie boards, calamari, fish and chips, flatbreads, braised octopus, and cheesecake, along with beer, wine, and cocktails.]
