Maria Forno Plans to Open in the Former Taranta Space in Boston's North End

A new dining spot is looking to open in the North End of Boston, and it would be taking over the space where an award-winning restaurant had once been.

According to a message sent from Adam Castiglioni of @conciergeboston.bsky.social on Bluesky, a meeting notice has been posted at the former Taranta space on Hanover street saying that Dolvero LLC is planning to open a sit-down restaurant serving all-day breakfast and pizza. An Abutters Meeting notice within the City of Boston website mentions this as well while also saying that the name of the place would apparently be Maria Forno, though because it is early in the approval process, the name could just be a placeholder so it isn't sure whether this will be the official name if the plans are given the green light. The only other information at this point in time is that the proposed dining spot could have hours from 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM (though it is possible the 2:00 AM closing time was supposed to be listed as 2:00 PM instead) and that it would have seating for 70 and it seeks a common victualler license with no alcohol served.

Taranta closed in the summer of 2020 after approximately 20 years in business, with the Peruvian-Italian restaurant receiving accolades from such publications as The Boston Globe, Zagat, and Boston Magazine along with receiving Boston's "Green Business Award."

The address for the proposed Maria Forno in the North End is 210 Hanover Street, Boston, MA, 02113.
