Jasmine Bistro in Brighton Is Closing; Umai May Open in Its Space

An upscale restaurant featuring three different types of cuisine is closing its doors after approximately 20 years in business, though a new dining spot could be moving in.

According to a licensing board page within the City of Boston website, Jasmine Bistro in Brighton is going to be shuttering, as it plans to transfer its common victualler and liquor license to Umai, which would be at the same Market Street address (it appears that this is the same Umai that has a location on Newbury Street in the Back Bay of Boston). This seems to jibe with a rumor sent by a source that the eatery was possibly closing, though at the time (earlier this summer) there was no absolute confirmation of this.

[September 19 update: Based on information from a couple of posters on the Chowhound site, it appears that Jasmine Bistro has officially closed.]

Jasmine Bistro is known in part for its French, Hungarian, and Middle Eastern fare, along with its wide variety of wines from around the world. The dining spot has been featured by our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants) as an under-the-radar spot to check out for its food and drink.
