Simco's in Mattapan Facing Possible Seizure by the State

A landmark hot dog place is facing an uncertain future due to nonpayment of taxes.

According to an article from Universal Hub, Simco's in Mattapan is staring at a possible seizure by the state, as the Blue Hill Avenue spot has debts of $736,000 in taxes and interest, and only $20,000 has been paid, resulting in the Department of Revenue making a court request to enter the premises for the purpose of seizing the business and selling/disposing of the property. The dining spot, which has been in business since the 1930s, is known mostly for its hot dogs while also offering soups, salads, subs, pizza, calzones, and more.

The address for Simco's is 1509 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, MA, 02126.

According to a tweet from @djchristar10, Lenny's Tropical Bakery and Restaurant in Mattapan has closed down, with a post from Universal Hub indicating that the Blue Hill Avenue eatery shuttered on February 8. Lenny's first opened approximately 40 years ago, offering such items as omelets, pancakes, bagels, sandwiches, beef patties, chicken curry, and more.

Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill Is Opening in Mattapan

A chain of Jamaican restaurants is opening a new location in a part of Boston that has very few dining options.

Eater Boston is reporting that Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill is planning to officially open in Mattapan on Saturday, April 1, with the Blue Hill Avenue eatery offering such items as pastries, soups, sandwiches, beef patties, and combo plates that include curried goat, stewed chicken, braised oxtail, whole fish, and more. This will be the second location to open in Massachusetts (the other being in Springfield), and more than 100 other outlets can be found in a number of states around the country. (It appears that the new location in Mattapan will be moving into the space where a location of McDonald's had been.)

The address for this new Jamaican restaurant in Mattapan is: Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill, 1614 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, MA, 02126. The website for the chain can be found at http://www.goldenkrustbakery.com/
