Jasper Hill in Millis Has Closed Permanently

Yet another spot for live music has closed for good, and this one resided in the outer suburbs of Boston.

According to several DJs on Mark Skin Radio, Jasper Hill in Millis is no longer in business, with a Wicked Local article confirming this, saying that co-owner Denise Tracy mentioned the Exchange Street spot had shuttered in late June because of unspecified issues concerning the building's landlord. The restaurant, bar, and live music spot opened in its current home in an historic mansion in the fall of 2018, with the place moving from Holliston where it had been called Jasper Hill Cafe & Bistro.

It is not yet known if Jasper Hill might end up reopening in another space; once we find out more, we will post an update here.

The address for the now-closed Jasper Hill was 270 Exchange Street (Route 115) Millis, MA, 02054.

Update: Budabing's 50's Cafe in Millis Destroyed in Overnight Fire

A popular suburban diner is closed after suffering serious damage in a fire.

According to several sources, including a post from NBC Boston, Budabing's 50's Cafe in Millis was hit by a blaze overnight that went to two alarms and caused the roof of the Main Street structure to collapse. It appears that the restaurant may be a total loss, as a tweet from @MichaelHenrich of Boston 25 news says that the building is expected to be demolished this morning. No injuries were reported in a blaze.

Budabing's 50's Cafe, which has been in business for more than 20 years, has been known for its retro atmosphere and its classic diner food including pancakes, waffles, burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, meatloaf, turkey dinner, and steak tips.

The address for Budabing's 50's Cafe is 1060 Main Street (Route 109), Millis, MA, 02054. Its website can be found at https://budabings50scafe.com/

[June 6 update: Wicked Local confirms that the structure housing Budabing's 50's Cafe was torn down yesterday; it is not yet known if the owners will rebuild, so keep checking back for more updates.]

[July 1 update: A new article from Wicked Local states that the owner of Budabing's 50's Cafe is looking for a new space (with the hope being that he would find one in Millis), and that the Millis Lions Club is helping to raise money for expenses not covered by insurance.]

Bob's Family Restaurant in Millis Destroyed by Fire

A family-friendly suburban restaurant that has been in business for nearly 30 years has been destroyed in a fire.

According to an article in Wicked Local Millis, Bob's Family Restaurant was hit by a blaze on Tuesday that fire investigators believe was caused by an electrical outlet, with the interior of the structure being considered a total loss. The dining spot, which was closed at the time of the fire, is currently boarded up and an estimated cost of the blaze is in the process of being determined, according to the post. Last night, a GoFundMe page was set up to help raise money for rebuilding Bob's Family Restaurant, though the Manarolis family--which owns the place--could not be reached for comment by Wicked Local as of last night.

Bob's Family Restaurant, which buzzfile.com says first opened in 1991, was known in part for its all-day breakfasts.

The address for Bob's Family Restaurant is 1115 Main Street, Millis, MA, 02054.
