Everbowl Opens in Woburn

A chain of dining spots featuring acai bowls and juices has opened its first New England location, and it is located a few miles north of Boston.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Everbowl is now open in Woburn, moving into a space in the Woburn Village development just north of Route 128. The chain, which was established in Southern California in 2016, currently has few others anywhere near the local area other than Woburn, with its next closest being in Garwood, NJ.

Juicygreens Opens in Boston's Financial District

A local trio of vegetarian spots have been joined by a fourth location, with this one coming to the heart of downtown Boston.

According to a press release, Juicygreens is now open in the city's Financial District, moving into a space on Summer Street just west of the Rose Kennedy Greenway and South Station. The new outlet joins others in Hub Hall by North Station, Jamaica Plain, and Assembly Row in Somerville, and it offers smoothies cold-pressed juices, salads, bowls, and more.

Pink Carrot Opens in Former Pushcart Pizzeria Space in Boston's North End

A new dining spot that features healthy options has opened in the North End of Boston, replacing a pizza spot that closed a couple of years ago.

According to a message and a tweet from @ConciergeBoston, Pink Carrot is now open on Salem Street in the former Pushcart Pizzeria space, with a look at the menu showing such options as bagels, toast, sandwiches, salads, loaded sweet potatoes, pizza with a gluten-free or cauliflower crust, smoothies, juices, and coffee. The new spot is open Monday through Saturday, with hours being 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Pushcart Pizzeria, which was also known as Pushcart Cafe, offered pizza, calzones, and salads along with beer, wine, and cocktails.

Playa Bowls Is Opening in East Milton Square

A New Jersey-based chain of dining spots is getting ready to open its fourth Boston-area location, with this one being just south of the city.

According to an article in the Milton Times, Playa Bowls is opening in East Milton Square, with the Adams Street eatery soon joining others in Brighton by Boston College, near Northeastern University in Boston, and in Cambridge's Harvard Square. Based on its other outlets, expect to find bowls with a variety of bases, along with smoothies and fresh juices.

If all goes as planned, the new location of Playa Bowls will open sometime this month.

Pomona Is Opening in Winthrop

The people behind a small group of Italian restaurants on the North Shore are debuting a new concept that will also be north of Boston.

According to a tweet from @mgnicosia, Pomona is opening in Winthrop, taking over a space on Crest Avenue that had been home to a florist. Based on the dining spot's website (which appears to be under construction), it looks like the new eatery will offer such items as bowls, smoothies, and juices and that it will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It appears that Pomona is on the verge of opening, but another tweet from @mgnicosia indicates that it might not be open just yet.

Pomona has an ownership connection with Antique Table, which has locations in Winthrop, Lynn, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and Salem.

Playa Bowls Is Opening in Cambridge's Harvard Square

A New Jersey-based chain of dining spots is getting ready to open its third Boston-area outlet.

According to a press release, Playa Bowls is debuting in the Harvard Square section of Cambridge on Saturday, August 22, moving into a space by the corner of Mt. Auburn Street and Holyoke Street. As with its other locations--including ones in Brighton by Boston College and another near Northeastern University--expect a variety of bowls with such bases as acai, banana, coconut, chia, and oatmeal, along with smoothies and fresh juices, and it will offer takeout, curbside pickup, and contactless delivery.

Playa Bowls started out as a cart in Belmar, NJ, and now has just under 100 brick-and-mortar shops mostly along the East Coast.

Playa Bowls Is Opening by Northeastern University in Boston

A New Jersey-based chain of dining spots that opened its first franchised location in Boston earlier this year will soon be joined by a second outlet--and like the first, this one is geared at least in part to college students.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Playa Bowls is planning to open by Northeastern University, with the Huntington Avenue eatery offering a variety of bowls (including bases with acai, coconut, chia, and oatmeal), smoothies, and fresh juices. Once the new location opens (possibly this fall), it will join an outlet on Commonwealth Avenue in Brighton by Boston College, which opened in February.

Playa Bowls started out as a cart in Belmar, NJ, and now has more than 65 brick-and-mortar shops mostly along the East Coast.

Playa Bowls Is Opening by Boston College in Brighton

A New Jersey-based chain of spots featuring bowls, smoothies, and more will be expanding to Boston, and its upcoming location should be popular with students.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Playa Bowls is planning to open a shop on Commonwealth Avenue in Brighton by Boston College, with the place possibly offering such items as banana bowls, green bowls, acai bowls, chia pudding bowls, coconut bowls, oatmeal bowls, booster smoothies, green smoothies, orange power smoothies, and a variety of fresh juices, based on the offerings at its other locations. If all goes as planned, the new spot could be opening in early 2019.

Playa Bowls first started out as a cart in Belmar, NJ, and now has more than 60 brick-and-mortar shops along the East Coast.
