The folks behind a group of Spanish tapas restaurants and taquerias/tequila bars in Connecticut, Westchester County in New York, and soon, Atlanta, may be looking at the Boston area as their next area of expansion.
According to a job post on the Craigslist site and an article in the Fairfield Citizen, the Barcelona Restaurant Group is looking to expand into Boston as well as possibly Washington, D.C. It is not known at this time which of the group's restaurants it might open in the Boston area, Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bar or Bar Taco. The former can be found in Fairfield, Greenwich, New Haven, South Norwalk, Stamford, and West Hartford, CT, while the latter can be found in Port Chester, NY (and soon, Stamford).
According to their website, Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bar first started out in 1995, while the Bar Taco concept was started in the latter part of 2010. One of the co-founders of the restaurant group was once a food editor for the Martha Stewart Living magazine, while the other co-founder had been a professional tennis player, according to the restaurant's website.
