The well-known chef behind a seafood restaurant in Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace is in the process of negotiations to prevent eviction, and in the process, may be changing the theme of the dining spot.
According to an article in The Boston Globe, Todd English is apparently pretty far along in working out a lease for the Kingfish Hall space, and he mentions that he has a "plan for seamlessly transitioning to what...will ultimately be a better fit" for the historic marketplace (which appears to be on the verge of being sold to Manhattan-based Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp.). It is not yet known what the change in concept for Kingfish Hall might be, and it is also not known whether the name will be kept (as soon as we get more information, we will post an update here).
[July 29 update: According to The Boston Herald, Kingfish Hall may become a Belgian-style beer bar, but there has been no confirmation of this as of yet. Stay tuned...]
In February of this year, we had written about Kingfish Hall falling behind in rent payments, resulting in the start of eviction procedures against the dining spot. Other Faneuil Hall restaurants and shops have been facing possible eviction--or have already been evicted--by the current owner, General Growth Properties of Chicago.
The address for Kingfish Hall is: Kingfish Hall, 188 South Market Building, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston, MA, 02109. The website for the restaurant can be found at: http://www.toddenglish.com/
