Beacon Grille in Woburn to Become Strega Prime

A high-end restaurant and bar in Woburn that has been in business for approximately three years is closing and will be replaced by an upscale Italian dining spot with a familiar name.

The Woburn Patch is reporting that the Beacon Grille on Sylvan Road is going to be sold to The Varano Group, with Nick Varano of the group planning to open a new location of Strega in the space. The article states that the transaction has not yet been finalized and that the Beacon Grille remains open for now (the Patch also says that the deal is "contingent upon the successful transfer of the liquor license")

[June 11 update: A Twitter post from Strega Boston/The Varano Group indicates that their new location in Woburn is planning to open in August, and that it will be called "Strega Prime."]

[July 1 update: According to a poster on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page, the Beacon Grille has closed. This seems to be confirmed by their website, which automatically switches over to Strega Prime now.]

[July 25 update: The Restaurant Hub blog of the Boston Globe states that Strega Prime will open on August 5.]

Other locations of Strega can be found in Boston's North End and at Fan Pier on the city's waterfront. Varano also operates Nico in the North End and had run the now-closed Nick Varano's Famous Deli, which is going to become a new eatery run by The Varano Group.

The address for the Beacon Grille (and the upcoming Strega) is 100 Sylvan Road, Woburn, MA, 01801.
