Legal Sea Foods to Close Its Prudential Center Location Due to Construction; New Location Possible

[Ed note: This article was updated on October 1 to reflect new information given.]

A local group of seafood restaurants is going to be closing one of its Boston locations due to construction, though it will likely reopen in a new location.

The Boston Business Journal is reporting that Legal Sea Foods in the Prudential Center will need to close while construction takes place to add space to the complex, with work apparently beginning later this year and finishing up sometime in 2016. The article mentions that the restaurant will shut down in January of 2015, with a temporary location being a possibility during construction if a space can be found, and a new space slated for the dining spot once construction is done. (It appears that the new space will be slightly bigger than the old--approximately 9,000 square feet compared to 8,500 square feet.)

[October 1 update: A poster on the Chowhound site says that the Prudential location of Legal Sea Foods will apparently close sometime around December 31, with the restaurant also telling us that they have not been able to reach an agreement with the landlord for a new space as of yet. If they do end up finding a new space at the Pru, we will post another update here.]

[December 23 update: A note sent from Legal Sea Foods indicates that their Prudential location will close at the end of business hours on Sunday (December 28), and that they are still working on trying to get a replacement location.]

A number of locations of Legal Sea Foods can be found in the Boston area, as well as other locations along the Eastern Seaboard. Its website can be found at  http://www.legalseafoods.com/
