Estelle's in Boston's South End to Become Cluckit

It looks like one of the best-known restaurateurs in the Boston area is reconcepting one of his dining spots.

According to a Twitter post as well as a Twitter picture, Brian Poe is apparently replacing Estelle's in the city's South End neighborhood with Cluckit!, with the picture showing the name of the new restaurant already up at the Tremont Street storefront. An earlier Twitter photo from Estelle's shows a note indicating that the new eatery will have "cold beer & hot chicken" and says it will open on June 15.

[June 11 update: According to a press release, Cluckit! will feature flame-grilled chicken marinated in piri piri (a complex sauce that has roots in Portugal and Mozambique), with four levels of heat offered, while the beer list includes 70 bottle and can options and 30 draft lines. The restaurant will be open for dinner Monday through Thursday, with lunch and dinner available on Fridays and Saturdays and brunch and dinner on Sundays. It also appears that Cluckit! might not open until June 16; as soon as we find out for sure, we will post an update here.]

[June 15 update: A twitter post from the restaurant confirms that Cluckit! is opening tomorrow (Tuesday, June 16) at 4:00 PM.]

Brian Poe and his business partners first opened Estelle's in November of 2012, with the place being a Southern-influenced restaurant and bar that offered such items as BBQ wings, fried pickles, chicken gumbo, catfish burgers, brisket po' boys, baby back ribs, fried green tomatoes, and red beans and rice. Other restaurants that Poe is involved with include Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake in Boston's Back Bay, Bukowski's Tavern in the Back Bay and Cambridge's Inman Square, and Tip Tap Room in the Beacon Hill section of the city.

The address for the upcoming Cluckit! in the South End is 782 Tremont Street, Boston, MA, 02118.
