Blaze Pizza Is Opening at One Canal Park in Cambridge

Back in 2012, we mentioned that a group of California-based pizza restaurants was planning to expand to the Boston area, and now we finally have confirmation that at least one shop is on the way.

Eater Boston is reporting that Blaze Pizza is going to be opening at One Canal Park in Cambridge, which is along First Street between Cambridge Street and the CambridgeSide Galleria--and which is also home to  Tahaza Hummus Kitchen and possibly Lord Hobo Brew Pub at some point. Once it opens, expect the place to offer pizzas cooked quickly at high temperatures after customers choose their toppings via a counter system similar to that of Chipotle, according to EB. (There will also be pre-planned pizzas as well, along with salads and a s'more pie dessert.) A few investors involved with Blaze include Red Sox chairman Tom Werner, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, and author/journalist Maria Shriver, according to various press releases.

The website for the company can be found at http://www.blazepizza.com/

[June 1 update: According to a press release, Blaze Pizza opens in Cambridge tomorrow (Thursday, June 2), with the eatery serving free pizza on Friday to those who follow their Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook pages.]
