Emma's in Boston's South End Is Closed

A pizzeria in the South End of Boston whose name goes back a half century is shuttered, and it is not known if or when it will reopen.

According to a Twitter post from @bzref, Emma's on Columbus Avenue is locked up and dark, and we have been told that it has apparently been this way for approximately three weeks. A phone call placed to the eatery goes to a voicemail that says it is temporarily closed and trying to restaff, retool, and open back up as soon as possible, with the voicemail being recorded back in late August. As soon as we get any updates on Emma's, we will post them here.

Emma's first opened last August in the South End, joining its location in Cambridge's Kendall Square which ended up closing down at the end of the year. The business was established in the 1960s in the Huron Village section of Cambridge, eventually moving to Kendall Square around 2000.

The address for Emma's in the South End is 537 Columbus Avenue, Boston, MA, 02118.

[October 24 update: Eater Boston states that a location of Lobstah on a Roll will move into Emma's space.]
