A new Asian restaurant is going to be opening in Allston, moving into a spot where an offbeat clothing, fashion, and art store used to be. Blue Asia Cafe will be opening on Brighton Avenue just east of the Harvard Avenue intersection, taking over the space that was formerly home to L.A.B., which closed recently after being in business since early 2007. The restaurant looks to be a self-service lunch and dinner dining spot that includes Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean fare, with menu items including herbal ginseng chicken soup, homemade dumplings, chilled seaweed with garlic, sweet sausage over rice, beef bulgogi, eel bibimbab, rice bowls, and ramen noodles. Prices look to be under $10 for nearly all dishes. [Ed note: Contrary to an earlier report, the restaurant is not cash only, as they will indeed be accepting both cash and credit cards.]
[January 11, 2010 update: According to their Facebook page, Blue Asia Cafe had a soft opening over the weekend and they are having their official opening this week.]
Hours for Blue Asia will be 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM Friday through Sunday. The address is: Blue Asia Cafe, 113 Brighton Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134. The phone number is (617) 202-3868. And their website can be found at: http://www.blueasiacafe.comcastbiz.net/
