Black Horse Tavern Is Opening in Winchester

A restaurant and bar featuring American cuisine will soon be coming to Winchester. According to the Winchester Star and Wicked Local, the Black Horse Tavern is going to open on Waterfield Road in the center of this northern suburb of Boston, with a possible opening date sometime toward the end of April. [June 23 update: An email sent to us from the restaurant indicates that the Black Horse Tavern should hopefully be opening within the next three weeks.]

The article mentions that the Black Horse Tavern is looking to have a bit more than 80 seats, with a mix of booths, loose tables, high-top tables, and bar seats. The look of the place will be that of a classic pub, with a pressed ceiling and lots of wood inside the room. According to a job post on the Craigslist site, the Black Horse Tavern will have 12 draft lines at the bar as well as a number of gourmet beers in bottles.

The Black Horse Tavern will be moving into the space where The Black Horse Bootery resided until closing toward the end of 2008. The clothing store had been in operation in Winchester Center for more than a half century.

[August 4 update: According to a poster on the Chowhound site, the Black Horse Tavern is opening next Monday (August 9).]

[August 9 update: A note on a board in front of the restaurant states that the Black Horse Tavern is open for business, starting this evening.]

The address for this new restaurant and bar is: The Black Horse Tavern, 32-38 Waterfield Road, Winchester, MA, 01890.
