[ED NOTE: Spazzo, which we had written about recently, is now going to be called Benevento's, and the focus of the dining spot has also changed, as it is more of a pizzeria. What follows is an updated posting about the place.]
A new brick-oven pizzeria is opening in the North End of Boston this week, with the person behind the place being the owner of another Italian eatery which happens to be next door to the dining spot.
According to the UrbanDaddy site, Benevento's is going to open Thursday (April 15) on Salem Street next to Al Dente, a casual Italian restaurant with the same ownership. Benevento's is going to be a 40-seat lunch and dinner spot that will have alcohol available, though based on notes from an earlier North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council meeting (back when the restaurant was supposed to have been called Spazzo), there will not be full bar service, and a proposal to have a patio for outdoor dining was voted down awhile back.
The space on Salem Street that Benevento's is moving into used to house Trani, a dessert place known in part for its cupcakes filled with ice cream. (Trani closed its doors in 2008.)
The address for this pizzeria in the North End is: Benevento's, 111 Salem Street, Boston, MA, 02113.
