It looks like a Polish restaurant in South Boston may soon be opening a second location on the North Shore.
According to both a poster on Chowhound and another on Yelp, Cafe Polonia is looking to open a new, bigger place in Salem. The poster on Chowhound, who happens to be Boston food writer MC Slim JB, mentions that the upcoming Cafe Polonia will be located on Washington Street next to the Upper Crust Pizzeria, which is a short distance south of Essex Street in the heart of the downtown area. MC Slim JB also states that the restaurant may be open sometime this summer.
[August 27 update: According to the SalemArchives Twitter page, the new Cafe Polonia in Salem may be opening on September 8, and the exact address will be 118 Washington Street. Thanks to North Shore Dish for bringing this to our attention.]
[October 1 update: According to their Twitter page, the new Cafe Polonia in Salem is going to be opening next Wednesday (October 6).]
The original Cafe Polonia, which is located on Dorchester Avenue just outside of Andrew Square in South Boston, features a variety of Polish and East European fare, including beet soup, pierogi, Hungarian goulash, crepes, potato pancakes, and kielbasa.
