A new Mediterranean restaurant is going to be opening in Somerville, moving into the spot where a popular bar and music club used to be.
According to the Somerville Journal and Wicked Local, Deco is looking to open on Washington Street (between Beacon Street and the Cambridge border) where The Kirkland Cafe resided until closing in the spring of 2007. The person who is planning to open Deco is also behind Tapeo Restaurant and Tapas Bar, a Spanish restaurant on Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay, Pazzo, an Italian and Mediterranean dining spot also on Newbury Street, and Bacco Ristorante and Bar, an Italian restaurant on Salem Street in the North End of Boston. It appears that Deco will be a family-friendly restaurant with a capacity of 113, according to the article. The eatery could be open by the upcoming winter, if all goes as planned.
[December 6, 2011 update: More than 15 months after first writing about it, Deco is still not open, but according to Eater Boston, work is currently being done on the space and it could be open by late next spring.]
The address for this new Mediterranean restaurant coming to Somerville will be: Deco, 425 Washington Street, Somerville, MA, 02143.
