Peet's Coffee and Tea Is Closing in Boston's Financial District

It looks like a California-based coffee roaster and retailer will be closing its store in downtown Boston today.

According to posters on the Chowhound site, a "For Lease" sign sits in the window of Peet's Coffee & Tea on Federal Street in the Financial District, and a veteran poster on the site has mentioned that today is its last day in business. The downtown location of Peet's Coffee & Tea has been a popular spot for the local business crowd that works in and around Post Office Square and the South Station area. It is the only location of Peet's within the Boston city limits (other locations can be found in Brookline, Cambridge, Lexington, Newton Centre, and Wellesley).

Peet's Coffee & Tea first started out in Berkeley, CA, in 1966, slowly expanding over the years mostly in California, Oregon, and Washington (Colorado has three locations as well, and Illinois has two). In addition to its shops, Peet's also sells its coffee in grocery stores across the country.

The address for the Boston location of Peet's is: Peet's Coffee & Tea, 176 Federal Street, Boston, MA, 02110. The website for the company can be found at: http://www.peets.com/
