It looks like a new steakhouse with a familiar name will soon be coming to the Back Bay of Boston.
According to a job post on the Craigslist site, Met Back Bay is going to be opening along Newbury Street early in the fall. The post states that the restaurant will be a "modern steakhouse," and that it is indeed affiliated with the Metropolitan Club in Chestnut Hill and the Met Bar in Dedham and Natick.
Based on the menu at the Metropolitan Club, Met Back Bay will likely feature dishes such as rib eye, skirt steak, and New York sirloin, as well as Kobe burgers, pasta, lobster, salmon, duck, veal tips, and brick chicken.
An earlier article in the Boston Globe mentioned that the new Met Back Bay will have a private club called Townhouse within the space, with a membership fee required (once the fee is paid, the costs for food and drink will be deducted from the fee, the Globe said). [January 13, 2011 update: According to Grub Street Boston, the private club Townhouse is planning to open in about a week (around January 21).
We do not currently have an exact address for Met Back Bay; as soon as we do, we will post an update here. [August 31 update: As one of our posters below states, Met Back Bay will be moving into the former Joe's American Bar and Grill space at the corner of Newbury and Dartmouth (Joe's has moved to 181 Newbury Street). The address for this space is 279 Dartmouth Street.]
[October 27 update: According to Urban Daddy, Met Back Bay is having a soft opening today.]
