A new Asian restaurant is opening in the Back Bay of Boston, and the people behind it happen to own several other dining spots and nightclubs, including one in downtown Boston and another on the South Shore.
According to The Boston Globe, Red Lantern is looking to open on Stanhope Street sometime during the winter. The new eatery will move into the space where a location of Bertucci's used to be until closing a couple of years ago. The Globe mentions that Red Lantern will be run by the group behind Tosca in Hingham, as well as three spots at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut (the group also runs The Estate, which is a dance club on Boylston Place--also known as The Alley--in downtown Boston). An article in Grub Street Boston states that the restaurant will feature sushi and cocktails, and looks to be a stylized theme spot.
[April 27, 2011 update: According to The Boston Herald, Red Lantern is planning to open in late May. The Herald mentions that the new restaurant will be an upscale pan-Asian spot with sushi (as mentioned by Grub Street above), dumplings, and a wok station, as well as inventive Chinese entrees. And as indicated by The Boston Globe above, Kevin Long of Tosca in Hingham is the person behind the new restaurant.]
[June 8 update: According to their Facebook fan club page, the Red Lantern plans to open today.]
The address for this new restaurant is: Red Lantern, 43 Stanhope Street (between Clarendon and Berkeley), Boston, MA, 02116.
