It looks like a new Japanese restaurant is coming to South Boston, and it will be replacing a bar that is across the street from the Broadway T station.
According to Boston.com, the owner of Slainte on West Broadway has been given approval to sell his liquor license to the owner of an upcoming dining spot called Owl Station Bar and Bistro. The article states that the new restaurant, which will move into the Slainte space, is planning on opening in January of 2011.
[July 6, 2011 update: According to UrbanDaddy, Owl Station Bar and Bistro is now open. (Note that the name is Owl Station Bar and Bistro, not Station Bar and Bistro, as had previously been thought.) UrbanDaddy also mentions that the new restaurant is an Asian bistro that features small plates.]
In addition to Slainte, the space that Owl Station Bar and Bistro is looking to move into has been the site of other dining and drinking establishments, including Six House and Triple O's.
The address for this new Japanese restaurant in South Boston is: Owl Station Bar and Bistro, 28 West Broadway, South Boston, MA, 02127.
