A new Thai restaurant has opened in Wakefield, and while it looks like it will be a place for mostly takeout, it does have some limited seating inside.
According to one of our fans on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page, Red Sugar Cafe has opened on Vernon Street (just off of Route 129, about three blocks east of Main Street). A check on the Yelp site has confirmed this, and a page on the Wakefield Patch indicates that the restaurant apparently opened last month. The Patch also mentions that Red Sugar Cafe has only four or five tables inside the place, all of which have a view of the restaurant's kitchen. The new eatery, which does not serve alcohol, is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday.
Red Sugar Cafe is one of several Asian dining spots in Wakefield, including Duck Walk, another Thai restaurant on Main Street in the heart of Wakefield Center that our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants) has featured. A third Thai restaurant in town is Porchai Thai, which is located on Centre Street about a block away from Duck Walk.
The address for this new Thai restaurant in Wakefield is: Red Sugar Cafe, 24 Vernon Street, Wakefield, MA, 01880.
