An eclectic upscale restaurant in Arlington whose owner had briefly considered shutting its doors about a year ago has decided to close for good.
According to The Arlington Advocate and Wicked Local, Prose on Mass. Ave. (just east of Arlington Center) shut down on New Year's Eve after being in business for about 15 years, citing economic demands. As reported in an earlier article here, the owner had been looking to close the restaurant in December of 2009 due to financial issues, but customers contributed money to help her stay open. This time, however, the closure is permanent, The Advocate says.
Prose was known for its inventive seasonal menu that featured such items as grilled octopus, spaetzle, spicy pork belly, roasted sea bass, stewed chicken, short ribs, and flan. The restaurant also did some catering.
The address for this now-closed restaurant in Arlington was: Prose, 352 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02474.
