A Brazilian steakhouse is on its way to one of Boston's southern suburbs, though it is by no means a done deal as of yet, thanks to licensing issues.
According to the Braintree Patch, the owner of a Melting Pot franchise in Framingham is looking to open a place called Rodizio Grill in Braintree. The restaurant, which would be located at the South Shore Plaza near the Route 128/93/3/1 intersection (the Braintree Split), could be open by the end of the year, though it may be pushed back or scuttled completely due to an alcohol license issue. It appears that the Braintree licensing board revoked the alcohol license held by the now-closed Bickford's in Braintree, with the reason for the revocation being because Bickford's did not give timely notice of its closing to the board. (The owner of Bickford's had been looking to transfer the license to Rodizio Grill.) An appeal of the licensing board's actions is apparently in the works by Bickford's, with the appeals process possibly taking a number of months.
The Patch article indicates that alcohol licenses for restaurants are tough to come by in Braintree right now, though the mayor of Braintree is looking to try to get four to six more licenses, with the licenses only going to dining spots in sections of Braintree that tend to have more independent businesses (rather than chain-heavy areas like the South Shore Plaza).
We will post updates on the planned opening of Rodizio Grill in Braintree as we get them, so keep checking back.
